Every year the Tundra Swans stop by the Upper Mississippi Valley for rest and replenishment.  They usually come just before many of the lakes freeze over and stay for a few weeks.  Generally they are here sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving. 

     There are 2 great places to see them.  One is  Rieck's Lake, just north of Alma WI.  Alma is about 1 hour north of LaCrosse.

     The other is just north of Brownsville, MN.  Brownsville is a short drive from La Crescent.
